Dare to eat

Dare to Vegan – Part I. What? Why? When?

For the past 3 years I have been mostly vegetarian, having meat maybe once or twice a week. I was always the person saying ‘going vegan is too extreme for me’ because, not only do I love cheese (and meat if it’s from a good, healthy source) but I also don’t believe there’s anything wrong with a balanced diet that includes meat and dairy.

Fast forward to a few months ago when I randomly stumbled across some vegan channels on youtube (Among others: No Egg Craig, Liv’s Healthy Life and some videos from Mind over Munch) that got me thinking that maybe, going vegan isn’t all that extreme. On top of this I saw some videos and studies (I can’t find the links though, sorry) about how a plant-based diet could help with things like migraine and PCOS, both things I suffer from.

So I decided to bite the bullet and go vegan in June. I want to see what it does to my body but I also want to see if I have sufficient will power to not eat cheese for a month. The past couple months I’ve been reducing the amount of meat (max once a week) and cheese (3-4 times a week) I eat and I have to say that I have been feeling a lot better. To be fair, that could also be because I’ve been walking a lot more and have been sleeping a lot better. I’m not ruling anything out.

Naturally I will be documenting my experience of going vegan and posting regular updates on here. I might also post some recipes if I come across/up with anything worth sharing. Let’s do this!
